Background Checks will be run on the following positions:
Church Staff (as required by Staff IT)
Leadership (Elders, Deacons, Trustees)
Volunteers working with minors (Children's workers and Student's workers)
Volunteers working with security (Secure IT)
Volunteers handling money (Count IT, Steward IT, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer)
Background Checks include the following:
Proof of Identity: Address Trace and Social Security Number Verification
National Criminal Database*: 44 states participate in reporting criminal files to the National Database (including Texas). If we have an
applicant from any of the other 6 states, The Mount will request a more detailed check from the state and county in which the applicant
previously resided.
National Sex Offender Database: This database contains a listing of all persons who have committed a sexual crime since the inception of the
database in 1980. All 50 states report to this database.
*Any criminal findings reported on the background check are followed up by phone by our current background check company, Protect My
Ministry. They will call the jurisdiction that originally reported the incident and confirm all the personal information to validate accurate reporting.
(A background report with any findings does not necessarily limit the applicant from service opportunities. There may be certain positions that
the applicant could be restricted from, however, this decision is left to the Pastor and/or Elder Council)
